●Description
Each year, in the waters of Aguni Island, Okinawa,
a remarkable phenomenon appears.
A massive school of silver jacks moves as one,
forming a swirling vortex known as a “tornado.”
This seasonal spectacle can only be witnessed
through drift diving in strong currents—
accessible to those with experience and skill.
What awaits there is beyond words.
On one unforgettable dive,
the entire school slowly shifted
directly above me.
My view was completely filled
with the movement of life.
It was so overwhelmingly beautiful
that I found myself in tears.
This work captures that moment—
the memory, the emotion, the silence.
For those who have never seen it,
this piece is a glimpse into the vast beauty
that exists beneath the surface of the ocean.
